Ethylene glycol, commonly known as glycol, is a colorless transparent viscous liquid at room temperature. It has a slightly sweet odor, certain toxicity, low volatility, high flash point, and hygroscopicity higher than glycerin. It is slightly soluble in ether, and can be mixed with water in any proportion and greatly reduce the freezing point of water. It turns yellow or brown when it contains iron impurities.
Application: Ethylene glycol (MEG) is an important chemical raw material, mainly used in the manufacturing of polyester resin products including polyester fiber, films, PET bottles, etc. An aqueous solution of ethylene glycol can be used as automobile antifreeze. When water is added to ethylene glycol, the freezing point decreases. The melting point of the 58% (mass fraction) ethylene glycol aqueous solution is -48℃. Below or above this concentration, the freezing point will rise instead. Ethylene glycol can also be used as an additive in the dye industry and lubricants for tobacco and cosmetics.

Storage: Store in a cool, dry and well-ventilated environment, optimally between 10 and 30°C, to avoid thermal decomposition or deterioration. Avoid exposure to environment above its flammable point, i.e. not more than 30°C, in case of fire or explosion.
